The Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program is a national program administered by the US Department of Energy in conjunction with the Environmental Protection Agency. Homeowners who participate in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR live in cooler homes in the summer and warmer homes in the winter, and pay less for their utility bills.
Rather than focusing on a single problem, like an old heating or cooling system, not enough insulation in the attic, or leaky windows, Home Performance with ENERGY STAR helps you understand how improvements throughout the home work together so you can prioritize your investment to achieve your energy savings and comfort goals.
Who can participate?
Any residential Entergy customer in Orleans Parish who lives in an existing single-family home, up to a four-plex structure, is eligible to receive rebates for installing energy efficiency improvements.
Step 1 - Request a Whole House Energy Assessment:
An Energy Smart contractor approved to do home energy assessments will analyze your home's energy efficiency needs.
AND Select a contractor for specific energy efficient measures:
The Energy Smart approved contractor will provide a bid proposal for the recommended upgrades.
Step 2 – Take Advantage of Energy Smart Rebates:
The contractor’s pricing will deduct the following rebates as applicable:
| Energy Efficiency Measure | Rebate Amount |
|---|---|
| Attic Insulation | Up to $0.35 per sq. ft. |
| Air Infiltration Sealing | Up to $0.13 per cfm reduced |
| Duct Sealing | Up to $1.50 per cfm reduced |
The rebate amount will be reflected on your invoice as a discount. Your contractor should fill out the Energy Smart paperwork on your behalf and ask you to sign off on the pricing and rebate amounts.
Step 3 – Have a Contractor Install the Energy Efficiency Improvements:
This work will later be checked by an Energy Smart team member for quality assurance.
