FOR ORLEANS PARISH PUBLIC SCHOOLS
If you teach sixth grade or high school in Orleans Parish charter schools, Energy Smart is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to teach students about energy efficiency.
Traditionally our program consists of two in-class sessions filled with hands-on, curriculum-correlated activities. After the first session, each student goes home with an energy efficiency starter kit full of gear they can install at home. However, in support of the CDC guidelines limiting guests into classrooms this school year, we will offer our incredible programming through the following channels:
- Ship Energy Efficiency Starter Kits directly to schools
- Provide teachers with packets* filled with fun, thought-provoking work that students can do either in class or at home
- Live remote teaching days with our subject-expert educators to round out the experience
*Packets are designed for middle and high school teachers who want to give their students a deeper dive into home energy efficiency. Broken down by type of energy use, each packet invites students to audit their own home, explore their energy bill, read more about the subject and complete other fun activities that help them understand building science, energy use and the role they can play as leaders. All packets are correlated to many curriculum standards across subjects and grades. Specific correlations for your subject and grade are available upon request.
